For the actor

These sessions are designed to help actors achieve a more authentic connection to their text through voice exploration. Using classical and modern text the initial focus of the work will be on undoing habitual patterning that may be preventing the actor from fully connecting to their work. Actors booking sessions with me will be required to present a monologue at our initial consultation so that I can best identify the places to work. Sessions are ongoing and can be booked at each session.

For the individual

These sessions are designed to help individuals who are looking to work on developing their confidence in speaking in public. The sessions will be dedicated to the art of simple vocal communication.

Training

The coaching you will receive is of the highest standard you could find anywhere in the world. It has been offered primarily to professional actors and artists who are training professionally in the leading training institutions around the world. It incorporates explorations developed over the past three decades by the worlds leading voice coaches and is based on the work of Iris Warren continued by Kristin Linklater and taught to me by my guide and mentor David Smukler.

Whilst the technical aspect of voice and speech is an important part of speaking and sometimes necessary for students and clients to understand, it does not mean that the work will always be coached technically. In fact most of my coaching will be conducted without any textbooks, choosing to work physically and through a style of coaching based in the sensory exploration of your voice. Through a progression of techniques that will be explored, we will create a personal ‘practice’ that will include a physical and vocal warm up that can be used at any time you are preparing to speak.

We will often use a professional camera to record our sessions. The camera will be used to record your practice presentations. The presentations will then be uploaded to a private channel within this site that you can access so that you can watch yourself. Whilst this may feel like the last thing you will want to do it is hugely beneficial in developing a practice by observing your habits in speaking. Watching ourselves is a great way to confirm and understand why existing habits may not be serving us. The philosophy is that we never judge ourselves; we simply observe our habits and develop a practice to become better. Remember that Voice is a ‘practice’ and needs to be given time and commitment.

  • A great teacher

Peter is a great teacher. He has taught me how to give an effective presentation and how to really engage the audience. I will be entering the corporate world after graduation and presentation skills will be absolutely crucial. I strongly recommend learning from Peter if you want to improve your confidence in public speaking.

  • Fun and educational

This course was fun and educational at the same time. Thanks to Peter, I’ve learned so many new things about voice work and its relation to the rest of the human body, but most of all, I’ve learned so much about myself. I was able to make a personal connection with the course material, which allowed me to explore my voice and discover my strengths and weaknesses. It has given me a foundation to build on. Thanks Peter!
